I am directing SIGN & SING's first performance and workshop of The Universal Drum, a new work by composer Brad Balliett and Deaf playwright Willy Conley for soprano, mezzo, percussion, and American Sign Language (ASL). The workshop stars Heather Jones, Francesca Federico, Andrew Morrill, Malik Paris, Karl Ronneburg, and Dylan Greene.
SIGN & SING visited Princeton University as part of a series for Princeton University American Sign Language (PUASL). I directed Heather O'Donovan, Beth Applebaum, and Adam Rothenberg in Samuel Barber's Knoxville, Leonard Bernstein's I Hate Music, and Dominick Argento's Songs About Spring.
I directed and produced SIGN & SING's Explorations, a concert that included ASL-opera versions of Heggie's At the Statue of Venus, Elgar's Sea Pictures, and Vaughan William's Songs of Travel. The performances included performers Treshelle Edmond, James W. Guido, Christopher Tester, Beth Applebaum, Alexa Jarvis, Garrett Zuercher, Tal Heller, Thomas Weaver, Alla Milchtein, Matthew Stephens, and Suchan Kim.
